A digital product passport (DPP) brings together the product information required by the applicable EU rules. This can include materials, origin, environmental performance and information for repair, reuse and recycling. Different users can access the information relevant to them.
The Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) establishes the EU framework. Product-specific rules and sector legislation determine the required data, access rights and dates for each product group.
A passport may cover a product model, a production batch or an individual product. The applicable rules determine which level is required. Where a battery passport is required, it identifies the individual battery.
Digital product passports explained — European Commission
From 18 February 2027, a battery passport is required for each electric vehicle battery, light means of transport battery and industrial battery with a capacity above 2 kWh placed on the EU market or put into service. Other product groups have their own rules and dates.
The 2 kWh threshold applies only to industrial batteries. Light means of transport include e-bikes and e-scooters.
Product Profile 360° describes a product for selection and use. A DPP provides the information required by the applicable EU rules and keeps it accessible throughout the product's lifecycle. The same product data can support both.
| What it covers | Profil izdelka 360° | Digital product passport (DPP) |
|---|---|---|
| What it covers | A product model or variant: its specifications, images and documents. | A model, batch or individual product, as required for that product group. A required battery passport covers one specific battery. |
| Information | Product features, variants, identifiers, media and descriptions in different languages. | Required product data, the approved specification, supporting documents and relevant production or lifecycle records. |
| Purpose | Help customers compare and choose products; provide data for catalogs and business systems. | Provide reliable information for traceability, repair, reuse, recycling and regulatory checks. |
| How it changes | Your team updates the shared product description as specifications and materials change. | Updates are reviewed and published as new versions. Editing the product profile does not automatically change a published passport. |
For a passport that covers an individual product, Actualog can connect its serial number to the production batch and the specification approved for manufacture.
Actualog connects product specifications with production records and documents. We organise that information into a passport for the relevant model, batch or individual product, with a clear review and publication process.

Bring specifications, material data, declarations and test reports together. Keep passport information linked to the documents and production records that support it.
Check required fields and missing information before publishing. Your team reviews the prepared passport and approves the version to be published.
Give customers, repairers, recyclers and authorities access to the information they are entitled to see. Set access rights for confidential documents and commercial information.
A link or QR code takes the reader to the relevant passport. For a batch or serialised product, it opens the passport for that batch or specific item. Place the code as required for your product group.
The link stays the same when an approved update is published. Earlier published versions remain available in the history.
Send us your specifications, declarations, supplier documents and available production records. We organise the data, identify gaps and prepare passports for your review.
Add new documents and record relevant changes throughout the product's lifecycle. Each update goes through review and approval, while earlier published versions are retained.
Your proposal covers passport preparation, publication and the Actualog access you need. You can also include a service to keep the data and documents up to date.
We agree the product range, number and scope of passports, languages, deliverables, schedule and price before work starts.
